Looks like I'm wrong...the two Lorraine motels both being bulwarks against segregation appears to have been more of a coincidence of naming. Shall have to go look for the chain (if there is one) that I was conflating with the Memphis and Philadelphia unsegregated hotels named Lorraine...

WIKIPEDIA suggests that NA wasn't too much later along than AA: Narcotics Anonymous sprang from the Alcoholics Anonymous Program of the mid 1930s, and was co-founded by Jimmy Kinnon. Meetings first emerged in the Los Angeles area of California, USA, in the early fifties. The NA program, officially founded in 1953, started as a small US movement that has grown into one of the world's oldest and largest organizations of its type.
--though in the 1960s such eventually questionable (or always questionable) organizations as Synanon were getting more attention for attempting the rehab drug abusers.

And part of the reason that MLK was staying at a Lorraine Hotel was that that was the elite African-American-owned chain of hotels in cities across the US apartheid states in those years (decades). The Philadelphia Divine Lorraine is finally getting some renewal attention, I believe...remarkable to think that King (working himself to a frazzle at the time he was murdered, part of what that I Might Not Get There With You might've been about, I think), Presley and Lenny Bruce were all about the same too damned young age (younger than we) at passing...

---Kurt Russell portrayed Elvis in a major tv biopic just after his death. Albert Goldman loves to do hatchet jobs in his biographies.

---Stuart Sutcliffe apparently died of an aneurysm leading to cranial hemorrhage...not from cancer, as noted (I think Slade can be forgiven). Still pretty traumatic, of course, for everyone.
