My guest is Rich Sommer, Mad Men series regular, character in LA Noire and host of the new segment on G4 called Game Night. He loves board games and knows a lot about them. Really. It’s great how much he loves them. It’s a good one. Enjoy!

    A) Thank you for the notes! I was hoping we would get a list of the games. I see a lot of fun in my future.
    B) I have been waiting for you to say something about ticket to ride-yay!
    C) I want to give you regency (or historical) mystery recommendations so bad! Imagine: Queen Elizabeth, Oscar Wilde or Jane Austen solving crimes!* They are very rarely violent or gross and many are actually very well researched.

*These are not the best examples but they are the funniest!

There is a scrap of strategy possible in MONOPOLY, if perhaps a bit less than in backgammon...some of my friendly acquaintances wrote some of the stories for the LA NOIRE anthology released with the game, in the Arguably Small World department. Remarkable, also, that not only you as latter-day game person and Sommer as lifelong gamer have gone so long with no interaction with dominoes (except, as you note, as motile art). And all the games (not quite as many as with cards, but in that direction) one can play with them...very amusing episode...is Dave Attell a likely guest, to fulfill another previously-cited area of dorkdom seeking a rep?
