Dennis Blair has been doing stand up forever. Like Me. But he’s got to work, extensively, with fancy people… George Carlin, Joan Rivers, Rodney Dangerfield to name a FEW! And… fascinated by Hitler. It’s a great episode. We both allow that JAWS is a really well done film.

Those videoclips are fansubs of DOWNFALL, all right...and the range of topics jokingly dealt with will be the meat of someone's PhD. thesis sooner rather than later...

heh, of course I've SEEN it (I'm sure it's the hitler scene and people talking about EVERYTHING like it's Hitler's last stand on... Arby's or some damn thing). But I've never seen the movie,. I wonder if I never saw the movie and Dennis never saw the youtube "campaign"

I'm surprised neither of you mentioned the DOWNFALL fake subtitles meme, which was annexing YouTube pretty forcefully for a year or three recently (the last days sequence in the Bunker has Bruno Ganz as Hitler raving about how bad most Adam Sandler movies are, according to the new "subtitles" added, or how Sara Palin wasn't working out as a VP candidate, etc.).

--I'm always glad when someone else admits to noting Woody Allen's narcissism and misogyny, however meliorated, which was pretty obvious to me by the early '80s, when I finally got tired of all the films being about how stupid the female leads were when they couldn't see the wonderfulness lurking beneath the surface of the Allen character...while is his sometimes not so petty harassment was supposed to be hilariously Harpo Maxist (not that Harpo doesn't come off a bit creepy too often). Here's the AMERICAN MASTERS page, fwiw: http://www.pbs.org/wnet/americanmasters/episodes/woody-allen-a-documentary/about-the-film/1865/

--Sadly, Lenny Bruce had been found either slumped on or just fallen off the toilet after his final moments, as well. Remarkable to me how many comedians today either didn't Get Bruce (Mark Maron) or never heard him, among so many of his peers...Dick Gregory could've split the difference between that gen of comedians and Zig Ziglar, given much of Gregory's entrepreneurial career in later life...

--And, of course, the US has had its own share of genocidal activity, forced marches (the Trail of Tears), concentration camps (for native nations, Japanese-Americans and also German- and Italian-Americans during World War 2, occasionally others), chattel slavery and its consequences...comedy gold.
