Speaking of subtext, the guy who created BEWITCHED died at age 100 the other day...he was always quite open about taking his inspiration from the films I MARRIED A WITCH and BELL, BOOK AND CANDLE...from the latter, particularly the whole "witches and warlocks" standing in for lesbians and gay men dynamic...

FWIW, BURN NOTICE is also repeating on broadcast tv, now, on MyNetworkTV (MNT) stations on Wednesday nights (the littler sibling of the Fox network [FBC], created because Fox/News Corp. owned a lot of UPN affiliates that didn't get to be CW affiliates when The WB and UPN merged several years back).

The opening theme didn't make it into the edit I heard...silencio for the first twenty seconds.

As you know by now, Fox dumped THE GOOD GUYS...their trigger fingers are almost as itchy as Disney/ABC's when it comes to dumping decent or better series as quickly as possible. (Of course, I'm still grumpy about NBC axing JOURNEYMAN and the steadily improving KIDNAPPED, and, for that matter, even more recently the agreeable PERFECT COUPLES, and ABC Family dumping THE MIDDLEMAN. The rancid if beautifully shot CSI MIAMI managed to spike both THE MIDDLEMAN and JOURNEYMAN, man.) And Bitty Schram wanted a better salary, iirc.

The other best thing on Adult Swim by me was the Brit import, LOOK AROUND YOU, but I've taken joy in CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL (particularly, and it cheers me it's shot in the same abandoned hospital as SCRUBS was, recognizably), FRANKENHOLE, SEALAB 2021, MIGHTY BOOSH, and GARTH MARENGUI'S DARKPLACE among some others...never much of a AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE fan, though.

I liked rather than loved JAWS when I was a kid, and DUEL (the tv movie that first got Spielberg widespread H'wood attention, and didn't hurt writer Richard Matheson's portfolio, either, after some low-budget movies based on his work and his stalwart years at THE TWILIGHT ZONE, but before his work on such other clangorous tv movies as THE NIGHT STALKER and THE NIGHT STRANGLER (its sequel...they didn't have the wit to engage him for the KOLCHAK series, and it showed). DUEL didn't really hold up for me on adult viewing (though Dennis Weaver is good), but I've not liked anything I've seen from Spielberg since JAWS, and wasn't real happy with things such as his segment of THE NIGHT GALLERY pilot...always flashy, usually shallow, doesn't really seem to like women much.
