My guests are friends and stand up comics Rye Silverman and Maria Shehata. We are live at Meltdown Comics in Hollywood. We explore food and Rye and I discuss whether we are actually not cool enough to be dorks anymore. This was cosy. Enjoy.

Board did not have a warranty. The new one does tho! The old one was 35$....so...

Yeah, I think I had a more visceral reaction to sideways than others....glad rye piped up! Hi rye!

Hey there Todd, don't think for a second that the presence of Nicholas "Xander" Brendon wasn't the reason I watched Kitchen Confidential to begin with. Oddly enough, the show also featured Jon Francis Daly, whose fellow former Freaks and Geeks co-star Jason Segel is also on How I Met Your Mother....

Thanks for introducing us to your guests...at least in my case, as I'm not sure I've caught their work before.

It's great hearing the stuff that did and didn't do much for you and your guests, or hasn't yet. I fell in love with PYTHON when I was seeing it first on ABC latenight (THE WIDE WORLD OF ENTERTAINMENT) ca. 1973, when I was 8yo...but they ran them censored and scrambled and at their whim...while CBS had made Saturday nights comedy night by 1973, with the ALL IN THE FAMILY/M*A*S*H/MT MOORE/BOB NEWHART/CAROL BURNETT lineup...by 1975, CBS had removed the first hour's series, but MOORE, NEWHART and BURNETT were suddenly supplemented by MONTY PYTHON at 11p on PBS and NBC'S SATURDAY NIGHT at 11:30p (except every fourth week, when NBC would run WEEKEND the relatively "hip" newsmagazine, instead). TV zombie by the end of the weekly marathon view.

Perhaps the Dork-saddest fact about KITCHEN CONFIDENTIAL was that it was "Xander"'s new show, scheduled directly against "Willow"'s, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER. (Well, actually a bit sadder was that KC was actually amusing.)

There are "degrees" of baking, too...cookies are far more forgiving than cakes, for example, unless one is attempting to make cookies from the gingerbread-person level of complexity on up (baklava and other pastry count). My housemate bought a "bread machine," and even with its theoretically foolproof aspects, it would fail about half the time to produce a happily edible loaf (note that I blame the machine, perhaps justly in some cases).

I can see Giamatti being offputting, but SIDEWAYS at least doesn't pretend that the male leads aren't superannuated children...and the female leads, if somewhat improbably drawn to the men (welcome to Hollywood product), do pretty well by their roles. Whereas I can't stand even (particularly?) the voice of Renée Zellweger...

So, the old new board wasn't still under warranty? Seems like that *Should* be covered...
